Many people are cheered by a bright, sunny day, but the effect of all that sunlight on the eyes is a less sunny proposition. UV and glare can create a variety of issues, from dangerous “snowblindness” to irreversible disorders that threaten your eyesight. Here are some frequently asked questions about the role of sunglasses in protecting the eyes from harm. Transitions Lenses

Transitions Lenses change from clear to dark in the presence of ultraviolet light and block 100% of harmful UV rays. This innovative photochromic technology has produced unparalleled eyewear performance. Transitions Lenses are compatible with bifocals, trifocals, progressives, shatter-resistant and standard lenses, and hi index materials.

Transitions Lenses begin to darken the moment they are exposed to UV light. The greater the intensity of UV rays, the darker the lenses become. The moment UV rays are no longer present, the lenses begin to fade back to clear. Most wearers report that the adjustment happens so smoothly, they are unaware of it.

Transitions Lenses contain special photochromic dyes that cause the lenses to activate, or darken, when exposed to ultraviolet rays in sunlight. When the UV light diminishes, the lenses fade back. As light conditions change, the level of tint adjusts, offering the right tint at the right time. It’s important to note that the UV blockage remains constant. Transitions Lenses provide automatic protection from UV rays in both the clear and darkened states.

Blue Blocking Lens Treatment

Proper blue blocking lens treatment is crucial to protect your eyes from damaging blue light wave lengths, while allowing you to enjoy your favorite media devices.

Blue light in itself is a natural phenomenon, it is present in daylight and helps us to stay awake, however excessive amounts can have an adverse effect on our eye health. Our exposure to this High Energy Visible Light (HEVL) grows with the use of LCD and LED computer and television screens, smart phones, tablets and GPS devices. Even our body’s natural defenses may not be enough to protect itself against long-term damage to the eye.

Benefits of Blue Blockers

  • Blue Protect reduces blue light by 30% in the HEVL spectrum
  • Provides a measure of protection from the risks of HEV
  • Enhances contrast
  • Suitable for lifestyles with high HEVL exposure
  • Gamers, students, high LCD device and computer users
